President Donald Trump appears to have pressured the increasingly politically isolated Israeli prime minister to apologize to his Qatari counterparts for egregiously violating their sovereignty earlier this month.
The three-way call connected President Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, with the leader of the Jewish state declaring his regret that “Israel’s missile strike against Hamas targets in Qatar unintentionally killed a Qatari serviceman,” according to a readout from the White House.

“He further expressed regret that, in targeting Hamas leadership during hostage negotiations, Israel violated Qatari sovereignty and affirmed that Israel will not conduct such an attack again in the future.”
“The leaders discussed a proposal for ending the war in Gaza, prospects for a more secure Middle East, and the need for greater understanding between their countries,” according to the statement.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the call as part of an ongoing effort by the United States “to address the repercussions of the Israeli aggression that targeted a residential neighborhood in Doha.”
“During the call, the Israeli Prime Minister apologized for the attack on Doha and on Qatar’s sovereignty, which resulted in the martyrdom of Qatari citizen Badr Al-Dosari, pledging to not repeat any targeting of Qatari territory in the future,” the Qatari statement continues.
