Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche appeared before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee today to present the Justice Department’s budget request for the upcoming fiscal year. The hearing focused on funding priorities aimed at bolstering domestic law enforcement and cybersecurity efforts.
Key Budget Priorities
Blanche emphasized the need for increased resources to combat rising cybercrime, stating, 'Protecting American infrastructure and citizens from foreign and domestic cyber threats remains a top priority.' The proposed budget includes significant allocations for modernizing federal law enforcement tools and expanding initiatives to address violent crime trends.
'This funding will ensure our agencies have the resources necessary to uphold the rule of law and protect American workers and families,' Blanche testified.
Immigration Enforcement
The Acting Attorney General also highlighted the DOJ’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws, noting that additional funding would target human trafficking networks and illegal border crossings. 'We must prioritize policies that safeguard national sovereignty while treating all individuals with dignity,' he said.
The hearing comes amid bipartisan concerns over the growing influence of corporate lobbying on federal policy. Blanche assured lawmakers that the DOJ would remain focused on American interests above all else.
