Palantir Technologies CTO Shyam Sankar has issued a stark warning about America's defense readiness, labeling the current situation an 'undeclared emergency.' Speaking on the growing tensions with Iran and other global rivals, Sankar emphasized that while U.S. weapons systems remain superior, the nation is dangerously unprepared for a protracted global conflict.

The Risk of Escalation

Sankar highlighted recent military operations, including those in Iran, as evidence that skirmishes could escalate into larger conflicts if not properly deterred. 'We need to be very clear-eyed about the moment,' Sankar stated. 'These could be the kind of skirmishes that lead up to a larger conflict—and we should be asking ourselves what we can do right now to deter World War III.'

'The good news is the department realizes this, and these plans are well underway.'

Call for Industrial Overhaul

Sankar argued that America's defense industry must undergo a radical transformation to remain competitive. He called for increased investment in technological innovation and manufacturing, urging the government to bypass bureaucratic inefficiencies that slow the development and deployment of advanced weapons systems. 'If you're not willing to invest in the technology, you'll never be able to realize that efficiency—and it translates into lethality,' he said.

Lessons from Current Conflicts

The Palantir executive pointed to recent conflicts, such as Ukraine and Iran, as examples of the challenges America faces. While U.S. weaponry has proven effective, Sankar warned that adversaries are leveraging lower-cost, rapidly produced technology to gain an edge. 'The difficulty we have countering the Shaheds, the lessons that we should be learning from Ukraine, from Iran—these are present,' Sankar cautioned.

Despite these challenges, Sankar expressed optimism about ongoing efforts to address these vulnerabilities, stating, 'The good news is the department realizes this, and these plans are well underway.'
