Trump Urges Iran to Negotiate Amid Escalating Tensions
President Donald Trump has called on Iran to engage in diplomatic talks following a strike on the country’s largest bridge. The attack, which destroyed the structure, has heightened tensions in the region as Iran faces mounting pressure from the U.S. and its allies.
"There’s more to follow if they don’t come to the table," Trump warned, emphasizing the need for a negotiated resolution.
The strike comes as the United Nations delays a vote on authorizing the use of defensive force to protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The strait, a critical artery for global oil trade, remains closed due to Iran’s ongoing military actions.
Earlier this week, the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation reported that its Mina al-Ahmadi refinery was struck by drones, igniting fires at several operational units. Emergency teams are still working to extinguish the flames, though no injuries have been reported.
Trump also criticized UK leadership during recent diplomatic efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, labeling Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer as "weak" and taking aim at the UK’s naval capabilities. The U.S. administration continues to prioritize American interests in the region while pushing Iran to de-escalate hostilities.
