President Donald Trump announced Tuesday he will attend oral arguments in a Supreme Court case challenging birthright citizenship, marking a rare instance of a sitting president observing court proceedings.

'I think I’ll go,' Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. 'I have listened to this argument for so long.'

Birthright Citizenship Debate

The case centers on whether the Constitution’s 14th Amendment guarantees citizenship to individuals born in the United States regardless of their parents' immigration status. Trump has long argued against automatic citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants, calling it a 'magnet for illegal immigration.'

'This interpretation has been abused for decades, and it’s time to clarify the law,' Trump said.

The case, which could reshape immigration policy, arrives as the administration prioritizes stricter border enforcement. Critics warn overturning birthright citizenship could destabilize immigration laws and create legal uncertainty for millions.

The Supreme Court hearing is scheduled for next week, with a ruling expected later this year.
