The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed the arrest of five immigrants convicted of violent crimes, including manslaughter, child sexual assault, and carjacking. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out the operations targeting individuals from Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala, and Vietnam.

'These types of depraved criminals should never have been in the U.S. in the first place,' stated DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. She emphasized the role of ICE officers in safeguarding American communities, calling them 'patriots who put their lives on the line.'

Details of the Arrests

Among those apprehended was Angel Rodriguez-Padilla, a Honduran national convicted of manslaughter in Dallas County, Texas. Henri Oliva-Marroquin, also from Honduras, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Pedro Bahena-Mendoza, a Mexican national, was convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child in Cook County, Illinois.

Nehimias Isaac Aguilar-Velasquez, a Guatemalan national, faced charges of aggravated assault, domestic violence, and attempted sexual assault in Phoenix, Arizona. Hung Thanh Dinh, a Vietnamese national, was convicted of carjacking with the use of a firearm in Malibu, California.

'Next time you see an ICE officer, thank them for their service to our nation,' Bis added.

The arrests highlight ongoing enforcement efforts amid debates over immigration policy and the role of federal agencies in maintaining public safety.
