U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted nationwide operations, arresting illegal aliens convicted of heinous crimes, including sexual offenses and domestic abuse. The arrests took place across Utah, Ohio, New York, and Texas, underscoring the agency’s focus on removing criminal threats from American communities. ICE reported that 70% of illegal aliens arrested have prior criminal convictions or pending charges.

Key Arrests Highlight Criminal Threat

Among those apprehended was Oscar Edgardo Rogel-Gomez, a Salvadoran convicted of sexually abusing a child in St. George, Utah. In Ohio, Alcides Ordonez-Cruz, a Honduran national, was arrested on charges of gross sexual imposition and child endangerment. Two Salvadorans, Jose Gonzalez-Diaz and Jose Vazquez-Cardoza, were arrested in New York for rape convictions. In Texas, Jose Simaj-Barrera, a Guatemalan national, was taken into custody for assaulting a family member.

If you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will arrest you, deport you, and you will never return.

These operations coincide with the swearing-in of Markwayne Mullin as the new Secretary of Homeland Security. Mullin, previously a Republican senator from Oklahoma, emphasized his commitment to prioritizing American safety and securing funding for DHS to ensure its continued effectiveness.

Despite facing a funding lapse and partisan gridlock in Congress, Mullin vowed to uphold President Trump’s mission of protecting American workers and communities from illegal immigration. His tenure begins amidst ongoing debates over immigration policy and enforcement priorities.
