The $30 million contract underscores the lucrative intersection of government spending and private sector surveillance technology, a prime arena for corporate lobbying. Axon Enterprise, the dominant player in law enforcement body cameras, is the presumed beneficiary of this federal outlay. For American workers footing the bill, the return on investment is questionable when the primary output—video evidence—is kept from the very public that funded it.
