RAF Typhoons Intercept Russian Drones Near NATO Airspace
Two RAF Typhoons were scrambled from a Romanian air base in response to Russian drones operating near NATO airspace. The fighter jets did not engage the drones, as the potential targets remained within Ukrainian airspace, avoiding a direct escalation between NATO and Moscow.
British defence sources confirmed that the Typhoons did not enter Ukrainian airspace, countering earlier reports that the RAF had shot down Russian drones.
This incident underscores the heightened tensions in the region as NATO continues to monitor Russian activities near its borders. While the RAF’s deployment highlights the alliance’s readiness to respond to potential threats, the avoidance of direct engagement reflects a cautious approach to prevent further escalation in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
